This green roof is on the Barclays building in Canary Wharf. It is the highest green roof specifically designed for biodiversity in Europe. The range of plants and invertebrates that occur on it continues to increase year on year. It has also been a major success with the staff at Barclays, who are so keen to weed and water the roof and that they take part in competitions to gain access to it!
Since then the Environmental Management team at Barclays are now looking to provide kingfisher nest banks on the docks below and to continue to explore other measures to contribute to Barclay's role in promoting biodiversity.
